S48 Review

Written by Team Oasis at 14:17 28/6-2019

A season in which we went back to division 1, to be granted access to Germany Tour. Like last season we had a modest approach with only one real main target and two side targets.

  Palmares expanded once more
The highlight has become grabbing our second YC jersey in Vuelta de los Castillos. A few good choices and the luck of having an inconsistent opponent made our cabinet larger. Furthermore we enjoyed getting the jersey with an Uzbek rider, which feels very close to home.
With our main target however we had the bad luck to have the inconsistent rider, missing out on the much desired YC jersey. A sixth in GC was nice, but with more luck even a win in GC could have been possible.

  DH disaster
Our first season in a very long long time without a win in a DH-race. We learnt the hard way that having a strict focus on gaining points, aging captains and not enough power in youngsters doesn't work well. We tried to score in 2 of the new races in the calendar but simply lacked the devotion and dedication.
The decline in our once so great DH-team is clearly visible. Next season we might face retirement of two of our former strongholds. They will leave behind a clawless monster, with no real sucessors who have an edge. In Season 49 a decission has to be made in regard to this niche. Shall we leave it to wither or do we pick it up again?

  Short break
Due to the lack of any real succes team management withdrew itself from the daily OCM-business. It had an effect on the end of season 48 and it hurts the start of season 49 as well. No plans have been made, no changes took place. They just vanished...

  Main targets
Germany Tour YC not won by Rashad Abdul-Karim due to 2 offdays

  Side targets
Vuelta de los Castillos YC won by Zakhar Mikhaylov
Alpe d'Huez Classic Not won by Richard Parkerson still decent 2nd.
Patryk Drozdowski Trophy Cup No podium GC by 10237571 due to offday TT, no result in stage (1x 4th).
Win a new DH-race: Came once close wth a 2nd, but failure with futher 6th (2x) and 8th place
Win a new race: Stage 6 of Germany Tour by Rashad Abdul-Karim
